Computer Reprogramming or Reflashing

Computer reprogramming or “reflashing” as it is often called is a fairly new feature in auto repair but is becoming increasingly common as a way to fix your car. Phil’s Auto Clinic is equipped with the latest computer equipment to reprogram your vehicle’s onboard computer or computers (many cars have more than five onboard computers.)

We do not make random changes to the computer program. Rather, we purchase from the vehicle manufacture specific computer files that update the existing program to one that is designed to fix faults that have appeared after the vehicle has been sold. Let’s say, for example, your car will no longer run on regular fuel without pinging. You have taken it to a repair shop and they have tried various solutions without improving the condition. It is possible that the manufacturer has released updated software to correct the condition in the computer. Phil’s has the ability to put that software into your car’s computer, usually at a very reasonable price.

Phil’s can check your vehicle’s onboard computer system to see if updates for its software are available. This service is done at no charge.
